About FEDINA
FEDINA (Foundation for Educational Innovations in Asia) is a trust registered in 1983, headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka. We are primarily a labour rights organisation, now evolving as a ‘Labour Resource Centre’ with an emphasis on the intersectionality of gender, caste, and labour. FEDINA adopts the rights-based approach to empower communities. Our primary goal is to reach informal, unorganised and unprotected workers (including retired workers), especially vulnerable communities such as women and people from marginalised castes, to collectivise, assert dignity, claim their rights, and remediate violations. Our areas of work involve understanding the challenges faced by informal workers in their working lives, creating critical consciousness about varied aspects of work and society, spreading awareness of existing labour laws, and facilitating in training and equipping them to bargain collectively for better working conditions and wages. Simultaneously, we focus on the overall wellbeing of the informal workers and their communities, including children and elderly people – in particular, their physical and mental health, nutrition, food security, community spaces, recreation, and intergenerational relations.
