Retired unorganized sector workers/ Senior citizens

Fedina works with "senior citizens" who have worked in various unorganized sectors such as sanitation, domestic workers, construction, street vendors, waiters, barbers, cobblers, shop keepers, tea vendors, security guards, gardeners, small shopkeeping, driving and much more and now living in poverty without social protection, Pension, food and health security. NOW!

There is no designated retirement age for the workers in the organized sector. They stop working when their bodies whither and bend from years of back-breaking work and they can no longer work. They have built this city and kept it safe, clean and shining. The city would collapse if it isn’t for the services of these workers. Not just that, over 50% India's Gross Domestic Product is a result of their labour.

Yet, their value-creating labour remains unrecognized, unacknowledged. Today, they receive a meager ‘old-age pension’ of Rs 1000 per month. Many live in city slums struggling for even 2 meals a day and unable to meet the cost of medicines for age-related and occupational diseases.

Fedina facilitates to organize the State level World elderly day campaign on the 1st of October every year. Following are the demands raised.

“Respect us by giving us a decent pension, honor us by ensuing food and health security”

“Rs 6000 per month pension for all unorganized sector workers NOW!”

“Decent pension is our right”

Health Camps

Fedina also organizes health camps for the workers and distributes free medicines.
